I'll start by saying that I don't have a snowboard, and would like to customize it over tne internet, second I need to know the right gear to use for snowboarding, third I live in Modesto, so I need to find a resort close to that city, and let it be close to go this weekend. Thanks, I hope I get all the info.

if you are a beginner at snowboarding you need to get an instructor they are very helpful! my step brother has been workin at ski resorts for a very long time so i have been snowboarding and skiing. its very fun. the first thing you need to do is if your snowboarding is stay on the bunny hill for a while to get used to snowboarding than work your way up ask some people to help you better understand it more and find a ski resort with a lot of snow

Yes, I recommend just going to a mountain near you and get an instructor. They can show you everything you need to know.

Till then, you can go to a snowboarding forum like http://frostyrider.com/boards/ and chat with others about learning how to snowboard.

As you have said that you don't know much about snowboarding, then there are two items you MUST get.

1. A helmet.

2. Health insurance.

dont be an idiot. Get a rental and learn the basics before you start ordering stuff off the internet not knowing anything about it. Even if you do end up getting something appropriate, you'll end up banging it all up while you're learning, so better to learn on someone else's.
