"Goofy" refers to riders who ride with their right foot in front as opposed to regular who ride with left foot in front.

Fakie in snowboarding is often used in place of the term "switch" which means that you are riding with your back foot in front. So if you are "goofy" you have your left foot in front when riding "switch". If you are regular you have your right foot in front when riding switch.

Like many snowboard terms, these have their roots in skateboarding and surfing. In skateboarding, "fakie" and "switch" mean different things. Switch is basically the same definition as switch riding in snowboarding. However, "fakie" refers to riding backwards when you are set up with your normal stance. This is different for skateboard because your feet are not strapped in like a snowboarder. So, for example, if you are a goofy rider and have your feet in the normal goofy position, but you are traveling toward your left foot, then you are riding fakie.

The closest thing to Fakie is riding with only one foot strapped in in the direction of the unstrapped foot: that is the unstrapped foot is in front.

It is harder to explain in words than simply showing you on the snow (or with a skateboard).

Fakey and Goofy are two different things and don't mean the same thing. Someone who rides Goofy means that they normally ride with their ride foot out in front. This is different from riding Regular which is someone who normally rides with their left foot in front. It's a bit like being right vs left handed.

Riding fakie means riding the opposite of your regular stance. So a goofy footer riding fakie would ride with their left foot out in front and a regular footer would ride fakie with their right foot out in front.

It's one of those things that's easier to show than it is to explain.

Goofy Foot - The riding orientation wherein one goes with the right foot forward.

Fakie - Riding opposite your typical orientation (switch).

If you ride goofy, you ride w/ your right foot forward. When you ride fakie, you ride the opposite way you usually ride.
