There are so many good boards out there. each brand has some good boards and bad boards.

burton are nice boards. i find they are really nice to ride straight away but sometimes have a tendancy to fall apart quickly. they are also mass produced so can be a bit cheaper than most and easy to find. stay away from the vapour . the aluminium core sometimes warps and there is very little stance width adjustment. plus they are really expensive.

nitro are really good. i think their best boards are the freestyle range, mfm, t1, t2 t0 etc.

for powder boards i ride nidecker. thier megalite is the best pow board ever!! it rides powder like most boards ride groomers.

the lib tech magnetraction is awesome if you ride alot of ice and variable conditions. the edge design give s you pretty good grip even in gnarly conditions. it doesnt make much difference in pow and the edges sometimes hang up on jump lips when taking off for a spin and boardsliding plastic stuff.

k2 have some nice boards as well. i havent tried it yet but alot of my riding buddies think the darkstar is the best freestyle board ever!!

other brands that i have heard good things about are atomic, stepchild and ride.

Really the best brand is a personal preference cos everyone needs something different in a board. try and demo lots of boards and find what you like. think about what type of riding you want to do and cater your board for that.

Good luck!!

There are many good brands out there more good brands than bad brands, and which are the best brands come down to personal choice and that can often be influenced by the type of riding you do. I have never considered buying a board made by say Palmer, Nidecker or Rossignol as i mainly do freestyle riding but if i was into freeriding i would certainly be looking at those brands for a board. Basically any board brand sold in a proper snowboard shop will be good, you need to look more about getting the right board for you based on your level of riding and the type of riding you like to do, Good luck.

I am a personal fan of Nitro snowboards. When I went from a Heelside board to a Nitro board it made a world of difference in my ability to turn. I had Nitros lowest end women's boards and it has lasted 3 seasons with 40-60 days/nights per season, and it is still a good board. I'm getting a new one in about 2 1/2 weeks. Very excited. I recommend them for a quality technical board brand.

I've also heard good things about the Lib Tech Magna traction boards, but I don't have any personal experience with that brand.

I think for the most part you get what you pay for. So if you buy cheap you might be sorry. Spend a little more and get one that will last for a few seasons.

I agree with some of the other posters, the BEST BRAND IS YOUR OPINION. Now that does not mean that there are not top brands out there. Before anyone jumps down my throat, by this I mean that these brands have the most sales and offer a huge variety in there product lines. But often times that does not mean they sell the highest quality products. For that it comes down customer service and the materials used to create the products. But a great way to look at this is to judge by popularity, more people who choose a brand over and over again do it for a reason.

A great example of this is if you go to 5 local board shops, all of them are going to have different products by different brands. However, I will bet you that in those 5 stores at least 3 will offer Burton products. Clearly even a quick pole here shows Burtons popularity. Interestingly enough, I personally dislike Burton but the board shop I work at sells there products. Once again my personal opinion.

For me the best thing to do when looking to purchase is research. Look at your price range and look up reviews of the products you want to buy. If brand research is what you want below are some great links by snowboarding authority sites.

i like flow boards better than anything else out there because for a few years in a row now they won the good wood award and sweetest design, so like they have god performance and good styles, also i snowboard with a former flow team snowboarder all the time, he is awesome he is leaving for california rite now but anyhow, i also like nitro i would get the new 2008 nitro brawler because it has good wood and it fits my style. dont buy a board that just doesnt fit your style, your board shiould tell anyone your personality, i just have a 2006 nito brawler and it works great, but if you r looking for a cheaper board try kemper or if u want the big money ones go with flow burton and GNU. i like GNU's danny kass board personally because it fits my style and its in my price range, so just get 1 that fits your style
