I'm going snowboarding soon and I can't find my ski/snowboarding goggles. Is it a bad idea to wear swimming goggles instead? I mean, they both do the same thing don't they?

No not at all. Those are meant for keeping out snow. Not wind

Bad idea. Swimming goggles won't protect your eyes from harmful UV which is particularly intense due to reflection from the snow. Go have another look for your ski/snowboard goggles.

No do not do it. Your swim goggles are designed to prevent water from getting it your eyes your ski goggles are designed to protect your eyes from the suns rays as they reflect off the snow.
True story. An Army buddy of mine tried to use his ESS goggles from Iraq (Designed to keep dust out of his eyes) at Squaw Valley. Anyway about 2 hours later he was complaing about how bad his eyes were hurting. If you cannot find you ski goggles go shell out $30 for a pair of scott goggles or ask for a good pair for Christmas if it is not to late

Technically, you should use snowboarding goggles for water snowboarding. the project is, you may want to ward off water from getting contained in the goggles. that's the position the anti-fog coating is and water will become worse it. once you've a throw-away pair of goggles, they are going to be nice. in basic terms comprehend that once the anti-fog coating is gone, they are going to fog up clone of the different goggle. via the way, snowboard goggles are water-evidence. Snow is after-all frozen water. this is in basic terms that you infrequently get the snow on the interior the goggles. i'm particular once you water ski, you're going to have circumstances once you thoroughly submerge your self contained in the water. this is going to spoil the coating on the interior, even though it gained't spoil the goggles itself.

Yes, but it's going to hurt when you fall. The skiing/snowboarding goggles have sponged like padding around the edges so if you fall on your face, the goggles have suction cups. It will hurt more if you fall on your face if you have swimming goggles on.
