dont just lean on your toes. you have to lean and push backwards hard with your back foot. so if you ride with your right foot forward, lean on your toes and push your left foot hard backwards and into the ground, while slightly rotating your body to your left like you are trying to face back up the mt.

Assuming you have a board of the right size, the best way to turn is pivot... Use your lead foot to plant it in the snow, and pivot with your back foot.
Always keep your lean towards the mountain.

I experienced your same problem when learning to board. Make sure to do S-turns to avoid going too fast and other than that I found that you just have to go for the turn even if you eat **** and eventually you'll pick it up. ~hope this helps (I feel your pain)

remember to pull your board up, push with your back foot, and the reason its so much harder is bcuz you cant see it. It feels good when you get good at them and now I prefer them.
